Digipak - Genre Conventions

Genre Conventions

This is the original Jamie T Sticks 'n' Stones cover.
The photograph on this cover is of the artist - Jamie T, which stands out the most overall as he is facing downwards and slightly towards the right so we cannot see his face which shows that he is quite reserved. Green and black are used throughout this digipak, both in the image and the bold artist/album name, which is placed right at the top and also using capital letters to ensure we are aware of the name of the artist and single. From looking at the front cover of this single, we can assume that it is located in an old bar from the bottles in the background.

This is another album cover from the indie band 'The Kooks'. The front cover is quite simple - a photograph of the band in black and white, but is still visually pleasing. The album name and artist name are both in the same font but the use of the different colours, black and red, makes them both clear and stand out from each other. These conventions are all typical of the indie genre that we are aiming for in our own album cover.

This is one of the Arctic Monkeys album fronts. Black and white has also been used on this cover and it is again quite simple. The artist name stands out as it's in a white box with bold black writing, and underneath the album name in a separate box with slightly smaller font. The location of this photograph on the cover, the alleyway, also reflects the indie genre behaviour, dress and lifestyle.
