Digipak - Genre Conventions
Genre Conventions
This is the original Jamie T Sticks 'n' Stones cover.
The photograph on this cover is of the artist - Jamie T, which stands out the most overall as he is facing downwards and slightly towards the right so we cannot see his face which shows that he is quite reserved. Green and black are used throughout this digipak, both in the image and the bold artist/album name, which is placed right at the top and also using capital letters to ensure we are aware of the name of the artist and single. From looking at the front cover of this single, we can assume that it is located in an old bar from the bottles in the background.
This is another album cover from the indie band 'The Kooks'. The front cover is quite simple - a photograph of the band in black and white, but is still visually pleasing. The album name and artist name are both in the same font but the use of the different colours, black and red, makes them both clear and stand out from each other. These conventions are all typical of the indie genre that we are aiming for in our own album cover.
This is one of the Arctic Monkeys album fronts. Black and white has also been used on this cover and it is again quite simple. The artist name stands out as it's in a white box with bold black writing, and underneath the album name in a separate box with slightly smaller font. The location of this photograph on the cover, the alleyway, also reflects the indie genre behaviour, dress and lifestyle.

Costume
To fit in with Jamie T's style and also the typical conventions of an 'Indie' artist, I wanted Ash [playing Jamie T] to wear casual clothing - checkered shirts and plain trousers to highlight the fact that Jamie T is an independent artist and does not have to wear a particular style or brand of clothing for people to buy his albums.

Actors
We chose Ash to play Jamie T (the main character) in our music video as he is a very confident actor, he was available at any time to film and he also best suited the role as Jamie T.
We also needed plenty of actors for our group shots, which we took from our media class as it was convenient and otherwise would have been time consuming to get these people together for auditions etc.
Locations
Train Station & Willingham Woods
These locations are where a large part of our filming will be done. Locations like these will allow our actors to have a lot of space to perform and for us to film a variety of different shots as well as both the locations fitting in well with the lyrics of the song.

Risk Assessment
This is our risk assessment that we had to complete once we knew what we wanted to do in our music video. We identified some issues with some of the ideas we wanted to do in our music video as they could be slightly dangerous, so we had to include what we needed to do to prevent any injury or damage.
Shooting Schedule
This is our shooting schedule that we produced so we knew exactly what we
needed to do, which saved a lot of time when we went out to film. We included locations we were going to film at, props we were going to use in each scene, actors and dates and times we planned to film on.
Target Audience
This is Sian. She is an 18 year old girl who enjoys listening to indie music. Her hobbies are reading NME, going out with her friends & watching music channels. When Sian watches indie videos, she looks out for conventions such as cigarettes, alcohol and urban locations. She also enjoys watching the NME channel for the music on there such as the Arctic Monkeys and The View as their music videos are fast paced and exciting.

Mood Board
This is our mood board. It consists of images, lyrics, samples of objects and clothing relating to the genre of our chosen song. There are pictures of potential props for example the packet of cigarettes, and also clothing brands that we would possibly assign our lead singer to wear for example Fred Perry shirt.
Storyboard
These are the storyboards for our chosen song, "Sticks 'n' Stones". It goes through step by step, explaining each individual shot and we also numbered each box on our storyboard and the parts of the lyrics they related too. Some examples of camera shots on our storyboard are; group shots, mid shots and short takes.
This is one of the steps on our storyboard, with a picture of the shot we plan to do and also the shot type and notes on how to construct the shot. This will help us when we come to film as we will already know exactly what we want to do.
